It’s been a while.

Okay, so I’m just gonna do this. There won’t be a lot to this entry! Just cause I’m lazy and a lot of this stuff is boring and pointless.

From where we last left you. We had just checked into our second hotel the “Howard Johnson” we stayed here for two nights then still hadn’t found a place to rent so we had to book more Accommodation for another two days.

ANYWAY!

We found a place in coquitlam to rent. The guy told us it was a month to month rental, and we pretty much took it the day we got there. After that we went to IKEA and bought all our untensils, towels, sheets etc as well as two double bed frames, two double mattresses, an entertainment unit and some table and chairs. All together it set us back about $1100, which wasn’t too bad considering all the stuff we got. We then had to go to walmart and buy plates and cups as well as groceries, so all together….we spent a lot of money last week. Sadly

We only lived in that place till the 8th (If you would like to know all the details, message me on facebook and I’ll explain as I can’t actually do it in public)
But anyway, on the 6th, we got an email from a very nice lady, she offered us a place to stay in North Vancouver, fully furnished, tv, cable, internet. EVERYTHING.

As well as a cute little kitten named Shelby!

Our new mother cooked us macaroni as soon as we arrived, she is one of the nicest ladies we have ever met and we are so glad she found us.

She actually found us on a site we didn’t even advertise on.
So it kind of feels like…fate

Anyway we are here now settling in and loving it.

Im gonna make luke blog the next one, cause mine are getting a bit boring.

OH! and the Canucks made the next round! WOOO More beer!!

KBYE!

Jusqu’à la prochaine fois.

This is continued…kinda!

After waking up a little hungover from all the beeries we drank the night before, we decided to stay in bed and skip breakfast.
This day was kinda boring, we didn’t do much, just walked down to the bank, who told us we couldn’t get an account until we had a permanent address. So that was a waste of time.

So now I’ll skip to Thursday!
We decided to travel to a place called Coquitlam today to look around, to make sure it was a nice place to live. And…it was! We really enjoyed it. There is a nice big mall right in the center with quite a few shops we would enjoy working in.
After looking around, we came back to our hotel and prepared for the first game of the second round of the Canucks play-offs.
We met up with Brianna and Glenn, as well as Glenns gf and Glenns mate Jordan! We made a little posse…all with intentions to win another Canucks Jersey. (Glenn and Luke had both already won, so we only need 2 more for Jordan and myself!) Unfortunately, we didn’t win this night, but the Canucks did beat The Nashville Predators 1-0. So it was kind of a win lose situation! However we all agreed to meet back there in two days for the next game, some more beers and good times.

After the game we went back to the hotel, and met a group of young kids (about 14 yrs old) who we decided to entertain with our accents, money and Australian humour. We made friends with 3 girls. Jocalyn, Taylorr and Kara who hung out with us till 4am (nothing weird! just being friendly!) So we woke up very tired this morning!

We checked out of our hotel this morning, and made our way to our new hotel where we are currently! We decided to have ham cheese and chip sandwichs for dinner which went down extremely well, and reminded us both of home!

I will try keep on top of this blog as much as I can, But I’m sorry if we get behind again!

P.s. we’re going to look at places to rent in Coquitlam tomorrow! Woo!

Probably the most disgusting flavour of chips we have ever heard of. What will you think of next Canada?

This is Canada.

I’m sorry for the lack of blogging! we’ve been busy! And by busy…I mean lazy and hungover haha. Okay here goes nothing!

The last time we spoke, I had just beaten up a homeless man and stole his sign, to try and get some money for weed (This is a joke…I actually have plenty of money for weed, haha)
After that day came Tuesday. This was a good good day! And it starts here:

We woke up nice and early and had our usual waffles and toast with some apple juice. Today we planned on getting our Social Insurance Number, Which is equivalent to our ‘tax file number’ a well as going to the bank to start an account.

We left our hotel and caught the skytrain to City hall station Vancouver and slowly made our way to “Service Canada”.
Upon arrival we asked the lady about how we go about acquiring this number, and she told us to take a number and then take a seat… An hour and a half later, and we were done!

We left the building, and found a mall…where we decided to have some chicken teriyaki for lunch, but this wasn’t no ordinary lunch!
I walked up the the asian man and said:
“can I have number one please”
His reply:
“so…you’re from Australia?”
I have no idea how he knew, but we then continued to have a lovely conversation about Australians. which ended in another Asian man trying to name ALL of the Australian actors. haha. he failed.

We didn’t have time to go to the bank cause we had planned to meet up with a Canadian girl (Brianna)
We met her at about 4 o’clock out the front of our hotel, and we started our lovely walk around town, I couldn’t actually tell you exactly WHERE we went, but it was a good (very cold) walk. Which was helped by an amazing hot chocolate. nom.
On the way back from our walk we remembered that the do or die game for the Vancouver Canucks (Ice hockey team) was to be played tonight at 7pm. So then began our search for a place to watch the game.

After walking around for a little bit longer, we found a nice little place called the “Roxy Burger” And to our suprise…they were giving away Canucks jerseys! All we had to do was drink a lot of Canadian beer (So we got tickets into the ballot) We drank 7 beers each, so by the end of the game, we were a little intoxicated…

And then it ended, Canucks scored the winning net in Overtime and won the game sending them to the second round of the play offs! The whole place erupted! Which was then followed by the giving away of the jersey…Which, to our surprise… WE WON!!!! :D

Whilst celebrating our recent win. A young man came up to us and started talking to us, we told him we were from Australia…and then Wollongong. He was shocked and dragged us to the other side of the pub, and introduced us to a guy named Glenn! Glenn was from freaking Port Kembla!! Can you believe it?!
We left the pub with the other Australian and began our party in the street, which consisted of thousands and thousands of Canucks fans! It was so much fun!

We ran a muck in the streets for the next hour or so. Which consisted of A lady asking for lukes autograph, An old man constantly kissing lukes freshly acquired jersey and A lot of jumping up and down and screaming!
We ended up back at our hotel room..and sleep came fast.

:)

And in the morning…I’m making WAFFLES!This was a part of our free breakfast this morning, The waffle mixture was in a little cup and we just had to tip it into the waffle maker (we managed…with a little confusion and help from the instructions) They tasted so good I went back for seconds.
We also got some toast (with peanut butter) and some bagels with cream cheese. We stuffed our face…but why wouldn’t you when its all free?We get 25% off at the Irish pub below our hotel. So Burger and chips for lunch? $8? I’m thinking yes!

A lovely few from the plane coming into LA

A lovely few from the plane coming into LA

We’ve arrived.

Here’s an update of the last 24 hours.

We both woke up at 6am, YES, a stupid hour. After making sure we had packed all the essentials, we took off at about 6:45 for Sydney International Airport.
On arrival we began the check-in process. Which ended up with James having 1.5kgs too much weight in his suitcase (but who’s suprised?) Because of this inconvenience, we had to re-pack our bags at the check-in desk. Stupid. Yes.
After spending the last few minutes with our families, we said goodbye and headed through the door of ‘no return’
We passed through security with no problems, had some maccas breakfast and then headed to our gate to wait for our flight. Whilst waiting we ran into a few boys we used to play indoor soccer with, who were catching the same flight coincidently! We had a chat to them and then boarded our flight.

It was a 14 hour flight, but it didn’t seem like it was that long. It went rather quickly, even though neither one of us actually got any sleep.
We arrived in LA at about 7am…American time. (Which is about midnight…I think?) it was rainy and rather cold. Disappointing for LA!
We had the hour-ish wait at international immigration. But then…with some intelligence from the two of us…managed to sneak our way ahead of the customs line AND the check-line for our next flight. ;)

After all this, we only had to wait about 30 minutes for our connecting flight to Vancouver. Where we were lucky enough to get some extra leg room in the ‘exit seats’.
We were put next to a another nice Aussie guy who was going to Canada to visit his gf, he gave us a few hints and tips about vancouver and we had bit of a chat about life in general. And in no time…2hours and 50 minutes later…we were in Vancouver!
We got through customs really easily, however getting our Working Visa from immigration took about 2 hours. It was a very long boring and tiring wait…specially after being awake for so long. But we finally got them and were able to leave the airport!
We got into a taxi and travelled to our hotel. Where I am currently writing this blog using the free wireless that our hotel provides
Tomorrow…We shall go house hunting. haha.

But for now….It’s sleep time!

Goodnight Followers.
